Prince George, 1st Avenue & Ontario Street – Integrated Health & Housing

BC Housing is collaborating with the City of Prince George and Northern Health on one of the most significant and innovative housing projects in Northern BC. Together, the partners are adding affordable housing integrated with healthcare services at the site on 1st Avenue and Ontario Street, to serve the community’s most vulnerable populations and improve the community, particularly the City’s downtown area. The land for the site was generously provided by the City.

140 & 150 Ontario Street

Construction has started on the next phase of the project. This phase will deliver a health clinic and 51 new homes with supports for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the community.

The ground floor of the new building will house an approximately 9,000-square-foot health clinic. The clinic will provide residents and the public with various services to address their health concerns. It will have the address of 140 Ontario Street.

The supportive homes in the new building will be studio apartments for people who need support services to maintain their housing. Residents will be single adults (19+) of all genders, including seniors and people with disabilities. The new homes will have the address of 150 Ontario Street.

Connective will manage the new homes when they are finished. Experienced staff will provide residents with 24/7 support services such as daily meals, life and employment skills training, and connections to community services. Connective has a long history of providing innovative, person-centered services across BC and the Yukon. Learn more about Connective by visiting connective.ca.

Northern Health will offer Complex Care Housing services in 10 of the 51 homes. These services will be in addition to the supports provided by Connective. Through this program, Northern Health will have dedicated staff to provide person-centered health care and other culturally safe services to residents under one roof and in their own home. 160 Ontario Street

The first building at the site opened in June 2022. Located at 160 Ontario Street, it delivered 50 urgently needed, purpose-built supportive homes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Connective is the operator of these supportive homes and provides residents with 24/7 support services, including daily meals, life and employment skills training, and connections to community services. Northern Health also offers Complex Care Housing services in 10 of the supportive homes in this building.
