Prince George

BC Housing is committed to providing a continuum of housing options in Prince George. We are doing this in collaboration with the City of Prince George, Northern Health, Indigenous housing organisations, non-profit housing operators and other partners.

We recognize there is more to do and that there is a need for more affordable housing in the City. We are responding; currently, there more than 400 new homes under construction, in development, or proposed for Prince George, including:

  • 127 new affordable homes for low to moderate income families, individuals and seniors
  • 91 new affordable homes specifically for Indigenous Peoples
  • 55 transitional and second stage homes for women and families fleeing violence
  • 162 new supportive homes for those at-risk or experiencing homelessness

Supporting people experiencing homelessness

To help meet the housing need for those who are experiencing homelessness in Prince George, BC Housing is partnering with multiple agencies to create 162 new supportive homes that are underway. These projects include:

  • 1201 1st Ave., 27 units under renovation at the former National Hotel
  • 1919 17th Ave., 35 units
  • 160 Ontario St., 50 units with integrated health services at the former NR Motors location

In addition, there are currently 270 supportive homes operating throughout the city. There are also 171 shelter spaces in Prince George that are in operation. These spaces are regularly at or near capacity during the winter months, although typically there is more vacancy during the warmer summer months.

We will continue to work with municipalities and our community partners to build more supportive homes, so that people living outdoors can come in off the street and begin their recovery journey with dignity.
