New Westminster - 602 Agnes Street

Render of low rise white and black building with decorative herringbone lines on the side

Project overview

BC Housing and the City of New Westminster are building 52 new homes at 602 Agnes Street (formerly 68 Sixth Street).

The 6-storey residential apartment building will include:

  • 52 studio homes with support services (supportive housing)
  • Indoor and outdoor common areas
  • Central kitchen and laundry facilities
  • Reception area and office space for staff
  • Fenced grounds and on-site parking

Supportive housing

Supportive housing is subsidized housing with on-site supports. Residents are single adults (19+) who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This can include seniors and people with disabilities.

All residents apply to live in supportive housing, sign program agreements and pay rent.

Typical supports include:

  • 24/7 staffing
  • Daily meals
  • Life skills and employment training
  • Access to health supports
  • Connections to community services

To learn more, check out our Stories from Supportive Housing playlist on YouTube. These short videos show inside several supportive housing buildings. They also share stories from residents, staff and neighbours.

Operator

BC Housing has selected Lookout Housing and Health Society (Lookout) to operate the building. Staff will manage the building and provide support services to residents.

Learn more about Lookout by visiting lookoutsociety.ca.

Community engagement

We commit to being good neighbours. We will share any updates about this project as soon as they are available.

We will share a direct phone number for the building when it opens to address any concerns quickly and collaboratively.

  • 2021– Announcement and community engagement
    • Fact sheet mailed to area neighbours
    • Virtual Community Information Sessions (3)
    • Provincial news release
    • Public Hearing/Rezoning consideration
