Modular tiny homes like these will be moved from an existing site.
Project Overview
BC Housing is planning to build up to 30 temporary homes at 502 20th Street.
The temporary housing site will include:
30 tiny homes with support services (Temporary housing with supports)
Indoor and outdoor common areas
Central kitchen and laundry facilities
Reception area and office space for staff
Fenced grounds and on-site parking
This project is funded through the Province’s HEART & HEARTH program. Through this program, we can build and offer housing quickly to people experiencing homelessness. This housing will be in place temporarily while we continue to build more permanent supportive homes in the community.
The project does not require a rezoning, a temporary use permit, or a public hearing.
Temporary Housing with Supports
Temporary housing with supports provides safe, stable housing for adults (19+) who are at risk of experiencing homelessness. This can include seniors and people with disabilities.
All residents apply to live in temporary housing, sign program agreements and pay rent.
Typical supports include:
24/7 onsite staff support
Daily meals
Life-skills and employment training
Access to health supports
Connections to community and social services
Access to permanent housing when available
Operator
BC Housing will select an experienced non-profit housing operator to manage the building and provide services to the residents.
Community Engagement
We commit to being good neighbours. We will share any updates about this project as soon as they are available.
We will share a direct phone number for the building when it opens and address any concerns quickly and collaboratively.
February 19, 2026 – Project announced
Letter and FAQ hand-delivered to 31 neighbouring residential homes and businesses
March 5, 2026 – Small-Group Information Sessions for immediate neighbours and businesses
March 19, 2026 – Community Open House for surrounding West End neighbours and local businesses
