BC Housing has renovated 38 homes at Hardwood Place Apartments at 1575 Queensway in Prince George.
These homes are for youth who are currently living in shelters or who are aging out of care. This project is an important part of our continued effort to address and prevent homelessness in the community.
We will offer these homes first to youth who are currently living in the 16-bed Reconnect Youth Village in downtown Prince George. We will offer the remaining homes to youth in the community who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Services offered through Reconnect will support youth ages 14-18, and young adults ages 19-27.
We’ve renovated this building to add a sprinkler system, upgraded ventilation and electrical, and fire alarms.
On-site services and support
Services at Hardwood will be offered in a culturally appropriate environment and support at-risk youth to make choices that will set them on a path towards healthy living. These services will include:
life-skills training & advocacy
employment goal setting & activities
promotion of self-efficiency & self-responsibility
cultural awareness, exploration & inclusion
community engagement
These voluntary, youth-centred services will be funded by the Ministry of Child and Family Development. They will nurture the spirit and strength of youth, honouring their culture and heritage and guiding them toward a future where they can thrive with pride and purpose.
Operator
BC Housing selected Prince George Native Friendship Centre Society through a fair and public process to operate this housing. Staff will manage the building and provide services to all residents.
Learn more about the society by visiting pgnfc.com.
Community engagement
We commit to being good neighbours. We will share any updates about this project as soon as they are available.
We will share a direct phone number for the building when it opens and address any concerns quickly and collaboratively.
