Responding to the need for housing in Prince George

BC Housing has bought and rezoned 1616 Queensway, a site formerly known as the Fraser Inn, and 1650 Queensway, formerly know as Direct Art. The project will provide 27 supportive homes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Prince George.

Project Status

The renovation of 1616 Queensway completed in Spring 2025. It contains 22 supportive homes. All suites are now tenanted. Renovations at 1650 Queensway are ongoing. When finished in Spring 2026, it will add another five supportive homes, bringing the total number of homes up to 27 units.

In addition to the supportive homes, the project will contain a commercial kitchen, a common dining and amenity spaces for residents. The project will also be fully fenced and include outdoor amenity space.

What is supportive housing?

Supportive housing is for British Columbians experiencing or at risk of homelessness. People experiencing homelessness are not all the same. They can be young people, seniors, or people with physical or mental disabilities. Anyone who has experienced trauma, poverty, or struggled with the high cost of housing.

Supportive housing can includes 24/7 support services. These can include meals, life/employment skills training, as well as health/wellness supports. Many also provide culturally informed services.

Engaging with neighbours and community members is a priority for BC Housing. Your feedback and comments are important to us!

A Virtual Open House is live from April 3-24, 2023. We invite neighbours and community members to read through the self-guided presentation. They will learn more about the proposed supportive housing for 1616 & 1650 Queensway.
