BC Housing is looking to purchase the property at 530 Carson Avenue, the current site of the Grace Inn, to provide supportive homes in Quesnel.
Responding to the urgent need for housing in Quesnel
We are working with our community partners to move people experiencing homelessness in Quesnel into housing. The 2023 Report on Homeless Count, Quesnel recorded 127 individuals who were experiencing homelessness. This site will eventually provide up to 50 supportive homes, plus outdoor space for tenant use and parking. The property will provide much needed shelter for your fellow community members that are currently experiencing homelessness.
Tenants will be selected using the Coordinated Access process and will prioritize individuals from your community who are experiencing homelessness.
What is supportive housing?
Supportive housing is for British Columbians experiencing or at risk of homelessness. People experiencing homelessness are not all the same. They can be young people, seniors, people with disabilities, or anyone who has experienced trauma, poverty, or struggled with the high cost of housing.
Supportive housing typically includes 24/7 support services such as meals, life and employment skills training, and health and wellness supports. Many also provide culturally informed services.
Community Engagement
We recognize there is much local interest in supportive housing in Quesnel, and we will work closely with the community to ensure that housing projects are successful for everyone.
Community Dialogue Session
We invited neighbours to join us for our first Public Consultation on January 23, 2024 to learn more, meet project partners and ask questions. A recording of the event is available to view below.
