Surrey – Foxglove Supportive Housing and Shelter

BC Housing, the City of Surrey, Fraser Health and RainCity Housing are pleased to announce the opening of Foxglove at 9810 Foxglove Drive, Surrey. The new housing will bring 100 new homes with supports and 30 emergency shelter spaces to the community. Supportive housing residents will begin moving into their new homes in the upcoming weeks, with the shelter opening one week later. 

BC Housing and RainCity, alongside Fraser Health are pleased to continue working with the City of Surrey and community, to provide much needed housing and services to community members who are experiencing, or at risk of homelessness. 

RainCity Housing

RainCity Housing will be operating the building and has over 35 years of experience providing housing and supports to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness throughout British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast. 

Housing with Supports

Supportive housing is a self-contained home with supports provided on-site, to ensure people can achieve and maintain housing stability. Foxglove will have 64 studio, and 2 one-bedroom, supportive homes with on-site services. Staff will be on-site 24/7 and will offer a number of programs including: 

  • Meals 
  • Medication program 
  • Indigenous cultural programming 
  • Peer programming 
  • Referrals to community services 

Enhanced Health Services  

An additional 34 supportive homes and four shelter respite spaces will have access to enhanced health services. As part of the Province’s Complex Care Housing Program, enhanced health support housing welcomes and supports people 19 and over who are living with mental health and/or substance use issues, have experienced trauma, and have additional overlapping issues that negatively impact their lives.

Shelter

Foxglove will also have 30 shelter spaces for community members at risk or experiencing homelessness. Four of the spaces will also have enhanced health supports. The shelter will be staffed 24/7 by RainCity and will provide shelter guests:  

  • A safe space to stay 
  • Meals 
  • Access to health supports 
  • Referrals to community services 
  • Housing options and referrals 

Community Engagement

RainCity staff is engaging with neighbours as residents settle into their new homes, and want to build and maintain positive relationships amongst the community.
