About the homes
Chalmers Lodge is a former assisted living residence for seniors. BC Housing purchased this building in April 2023. The 12-storey building has many features that make it ideal for supportive housing. These include:
- 114 studio suites with private bathrooms
- several lounge areas
- a central dining room
- a commercial kitchen
- office space for staff
The central location also means residents can access transit, health care, shopping and other amenities. The building was already vacant at the time of purchase.
In this building, we will give preference to seniors who are already BC Housing tenants but wish to move into a more seniors-focused building. Among these, we will also prioritize Indigenous people, women and other equity-denied groups.
BC Housing will choose residents for this building using a process that matches people with the types of homes and services they need. Supports for residents may include daily meals, life and employment skills training, and connections to health care and other community services.
The operator
BC Housing selected Connective through a fair and open process to manage this building and provide services to the residents. Connective has a long history of providing innovative, person-centered services across BC and the Yukon. They offer a range of housing, life-skills, outreach and employment, and community-based services with the goal of assisting individuals to achieve greater independence.
