Project overview

BC Housing is planning to open a permanent shelter at 1726 East Hastings Street.

The renovated 2-storey building will include:

  • 40 beds
  • Indoor common areas
  • Central kitchen
  • Washroom and laundry facilities

Permanent shelter

Shelters offer free, immediate places to stay for adults (19+) who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. A guest may stay in a shelter space for one night to a few months or longer. Shelter staff work with each guest to help them move toward stable, permanent housing.

Typical supports include:

  • Bed and bedding
  • Shared washrooms and laundry facilities
  • Daily meals
  • 24/7 staff support
  • Personalized case planning
  • Referrals to health care, housing and other community services

Supports and services are for registered shelter guests only.
