Katherine’s Place
A Way Home Kamloops is working with BC Housing to create 39 supportive homes for youth in Kamloops. Located at 560-562 Tranquille Road, Katherine’s Place will be managed by A Way Home Kamloops and provide homes with supports for youth aged 19 – 26.
The building will be named after Katherine McParland, a former A Way Home Kamloops Executive Director who was a passionate advocate for youth in Kamloops and recently passed away.
A Way Home will have staff on-site 24/7 to provide housing and supports for youth including:
- Meals
- Counselling
- Life Skills training
- Peer Support
- Safe and Supportive Space
Discussions will be had with applicants to ensure the services provided in this building meet their needs and there is an appropriate mix of residents. All residents will sign a program agreement (similar to a tenancy agreement) and pay rent.
Operator
A Way Home Kamloops will be operating the supportive homes for youth. The society has been operating in the region since 2012 and is a leader in the province on youth homelessness prevention, supports and housing.
Community Engagement
BC Housing is committed to an ongoing community dialogue and invites the community to learn more about the project, and address questions that neighbours may have about supportive housing being operated at the site.
A Way Home Kamloops and BC Housing will be hosting two community information sessions to share more details about the housing and services offered. The upcoming virtual community information sessions are taking place on:
