West Kelowna - Churchill Road

An illustration of a shelter building in a neighborhood.

BC Housing has partnered with the City of West Kelowna and Turning Points Collaborative Society to open a temporary shelter at 2545 Churchill Road, the current Central Okanagan Community Food Bank in West Kelowna.

There is an immediate need for temporary shelter. The current shelter at the West Kelowna United Church has been sold and must be vacated in August; the recently approved temporary shelter for 2515 Bartley Road will not be ready until the fall. This temporary short-term lease will give those currently staying at the Church shelter a place to stay until Bartley Road is ready.

The food bank has relocated and currently operating out of 3711 Elliot Road and will continue to provide services to the community. There will be no disruption to current foodbank services.

Turning Points Collaborative Society will manage this shelter, having managed the West Kelowna United Church temporary shelter, and will operate Bartley Road shelter once open.

Staff will be on site 24 hours a day and provide the same services currently available at the Church including:

  • meals
  • hygiene facilities
  • referrals to community services

Operator

Turning Points has operated in the Okanagan for over 50 years providing housing, programming, and services for people at risk and/or experiencing homelessness.
